The State Scholarship Committee finished scoring one hundred seventy-seven MVS Applications and four Rhode Island Students (2 boy/2 girls) were selected as National Finalists. They will receive $4000 ($1000 per school year) and compete at the National level for one of twenty scholarships ranging in value from $20,000 to $50,000. Thirty-eight other students received RI State Elks Association Scholarships ranging in value from $700 to $1000. The Lodge Scholarship Chairs have distributed Vocational Grant Applications to their schools. Students pursuing a Vocational/Technical program leading to a two year degree or technical certification are eligible to compete for a one-time $600 vocational grant. There is no age limit on this grant. The Vocational Grant Applications are due April 1st.Most Valuable Student Scholarship and Vocational Grant recipients are invited to a recognition and awards banquet. The Lodge Scholarship Chairs are asking members or you can ask them to purchase raffle tickets with a chance to win $300., $200. or $100. They will also ask you to become a Scholarship Booster by making a $1.00 donation and your name will be included in the banquet program book. If you would like to have an ad in the banquet program book your scholarship chairman can tell you about how to do that. Elks who want to attend the Scholarship Awards Dinner on Sunday April 27th @ 12:45 P.M. at West Warwick Lodge #1697 should contact State Scholarship Chairman Dick Devault at firstname.lastname@example.org. Tickets are $10.00 per person.
